Participatory Photography Facilitation
My participatory photography workshops are designed to support individuals and communities who are often excluded from dominant narratives. I create safe, respectful, and collaborative spaces where participants use photography and digital storytelling to explore their lived experiences, reflect on their realities, and represent themselves on their own terms.
The workshops combine practical image-making with group discussion and guided reflection. Participants develop photography and storytelling skills while building confidence, agency, and trust in their own voices. The focus is never on technical perfection, but on using images as tools for expression, dialogue, and connection.
This approach is particularly effective when working with disadvantaged or marginalised communities, where photography can become a powerful method for advocacy and communication. Participants are supported to create visual stories that speak to personal, social, and political issues affecting their lives, helping challenge stereotypes and shift public perception.
The process encourages collaboration and mutual support, allowing participants to learn from one another while strengthening community bonds. Depending on the goals of each project, outcomes can include exhibitions, publications, films, presentations, or digital content that can be used for advocacy, education, or organisational communication.
My work is rooted in long-term engagement, cultural sensitivity, and trauma-aware practice. Every workshop is participant-led and adapted to the specific context, whether delivered in partnership with NGOs, charities, community organisations, educational institutions, or social projects.
I bring over 15 years of experience working internationally with vulnerable communities, combining participatory photography, filmmaking, and storytelling with a strong ethical framework. Alongside community-based work, I also collaborate with organisations and companies seeking meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility and sustainability initiatives. These programmes offer a genuine way to support communities while demonstrating a real commitment to social impact beyond surface-level messaging.
Each collaboration begins with a consultation to understand your organisation’s values, objectives, and context. From there, I design a tailored programme aligned with your goals and the needs of the participants. I personally facilitate the workshops, guiding the process with care, experience, and respect, and I support organisations in understanding and communicating the impact of the work through clear reporting and documentation.
Participatory photography is not just a method — it is a process of listening, trust-building, and shared authorship. My aim is always to ensure that people are not spoken for, but supported to speak for themselves, turning lived experience into meaningful visual and narrative tools that foster understanding, connection, and real change.
